Our arms and hands can display some of the earliest noticeable signs of ageing, as they are influenced by factors such as sun exposure, lifestyle, genetics and the ageing process. Common concerns include:
- dehydrated skin
- pigmentation or sun spots
- visible veins and tendons on the hands
- skin laxity on the upper arms
- rough skin texture or uneven skin tone
Treatment Options For Arms & Hands
Multiple sources often cause concerns around arms and hands. Therefore, treatment plans often consist of multiple procedures, which may include:
- Skin hydrating treatments
- Laser treatments for sun spots and pigmentation
- Skin Needling for skin quality support
- RF Skin Needling, skin tightening and texture support
- Volumising treatments or thinning skin on the hands
Laser Treatments
Laser treatment can be used to address pigmentation or sun spots on the backs of the hands. During treatment, the laser delivers controlled energy into deeper layers of the skin where pigment and collagen structures are located. This enables the laser to target specific skin components without disturbing the surrounding tissue.
The pigment particles can be slowly broken down and cleared by the body’s natural processes. At the same time, the laser can stimulate collagen production, supporting skin condition.
RF Skin Needling for Arm Skin Tightening
RF (Radiofrequency) Skin Needling can help address skin laxity and texture changes, particularly on the back of the upper arms. At Bella Plastic Surgery, we use the Potenza Skin Needling device. This combines micro-needling with radiofrequency energy.
During treatment, ultrafine needles create controlled micro-injections into the skin, delivering radiofrequency energy into deeper layers. This activates the body’s natural repair response and can stimulate collagen production in the treated area.
RF Skin Needling can also help address mild skin laxity and localised fat within the upper arms.
Treatment settings are adjusted depending on the treatment area, the individual’s skin thickness, and other skin characteristics.
Skin Needling + Combination Treatments
When treating some individuals, we may combine microneedling with other regenerative treatments such as Rejuran as part of a broader treatment plan (based on clinical assessment).
Rejuran contains polynucleotides, which are purified DNA fragments. When used in conjunction with skin needling, they can support skin quality, texture and hydration, particularly on the hands, where skin may appear thinner or dehydrated.
Your Consultation & Treatment Plan
Before commencing treatment for arms and hands, all patients must have a face-to-face consultation. During this appointment, your treating cosmetic nurse will review your medical history, assess the skin on your arms and hands and discuss your treatment goals.
After assessing your hands, an individualised treatment plan will be created. This plan may include one or more treatments depending on your concerns. Depending on clinical suitability and appointment availability, we may perform a treatment on the same day.
Recovery
Your recovery and healing time after treatment will depend on the type of treatment you’ve had, the size of the treatment area and your individual healing response.
After RFT Skin Needling or Skin Needling – You may experience swelling, mild redness and temporary skin sensitivity as the skin begins its natural healing process.
After Laser Treatment – You may experience temporary redness or mild swelling while the treated area settles. In some instances, treated pigmentation spots can temporarily darken. These will fade as the skin renews.
Results & Ongoing Care
You may experience changes in the treated area over time as the skin responds to treatment. We may recommend a series of treatments for some individuals as part of a broader treatment plan. Maintenance treatments may also be suggested.
To support longer-term skin health, we recommend protecting the arms and hands from sun exposure while following appropriate skincare recommendations.
Potential Risks & Side-Effects
All nonsurgical cosmetic procedures carry risk. The likelihood of risks depends on the treatment (s) performed, the treated area and individual skin characteristics.
Temporary responses from arm and hand treatments may include redness, swelling, tenderness, mild skin sensitivity or bruising. These responses typically settle as the skin heals.
Less common complications include infection, pigmentation changes or delayed healing.

Cost of Treatment
The cost of your hand and arm treatment will depend on the type of treatment performed, the size of the area being treated and the number of sessions required. During your consultation, after assessing your concerns, your cosmetic nurse will develop and discuss an individualised treatment program, which will contain a quote before proceeding.
