Thigh Lift

Thigh lift, also known as a thigh lipectomy surgery, involves reshaping the thigh contours by removing excess skin and fat deposits. Individuals who have recently experienced massive weight loss are the most common patients of this procedure, as excess skin and fat pockets are often hard to remove via conventional diet and exercise. A thighplasty can help to cosmetically alter the appearance of the thighs to help complement the patient’s weight loss. It can also provide relief from skin irritation and chafing caused by excess skin.

Plastic Surgeon Dr Starr employs two different incision types strategically placed around the inner and outer thighs. In some cases, if there are fat pockets around the thigh with excess skin, liposuction is combined with excision techniques to tighten the skin and support the underlying tissue structure.

Eligible patients for a thighplasty should ensure they have reached a maintainable goal weight with a healthy lifestyle. Because a thighplasty is performed on a high movement area of the body where the skin can be thin, it is hard to predict how the wounds will heal and the level of scarring. Therefore, we do not recommend this procedure to individuals who have had a history of excessive bleeding or poor healing ability.
