How does
Breast reduction mammoplasty is either performed as a day procedure or patients will stay in the hospital overnight. The length of the hospital stay will depend on patient-specific factors, and Dr Richardson aims to provide all patients with the utmost quality care during recovery.

The different
At your initial consultation with Dr Richardson, he will conduct a physical assessment, take your measurements, and ask you about your goals for surgery. It’s a good idea to communicate your expectations to help Dr Richardson tailor the procedure to your unique goals.
Understanding
Breast reduction mammoplasty recovery is an important aspect of surgery. Recovering from the procedure and healing properly is a joint effort between the patient and the clinic. Here at Brisbane Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery, we aim to provide support and guidance throughout your recovery.
Full recovery from breast reduction (mammoplasty) is six weeks. However, this might vary and is subject to your individual healing speed and the advice of Dr Richardson to you specifically.
The majority of patients undergoing breast reduction (mammoplasty) with Dr Richardson will wake up in recovery with drains. Surgical drains help remove excess fluid from the surgical site to reduce the risk of complications such as seroma.
Patients should take one week off work for office jobs and sedentary occupations, and two weeks or more for active jobs. If your job requires you to engage in any strenuous activity or heavy lifting, you should seek exemption from these activities for six weeks.
Dr Richardson recommends that patients refrain from driving for one week after their breast reduction mammoplasty surgery. The primary reason is due to the likelihood of the patient still being on painkillers during this week.
