Double Chin Treatment with Kybella
Kybella – Double Chin
The revolutionary new way to get rid of a double chin, is known as Kybella in America and Belkyra in Australia. This treatment has been developed over a 10 year period; with additional studies (over 5 years) to show evidence of a safe and permanent treatment, with the added benefit of skin tightening.
Kybella is an injectable medicine that can be used to strategically sculpt a double chin and is identical to the natural bile salts produced in the liver for the purpose breaking down of fat.
Prior to administering any injections, the target pocket of fat will be ‘mapped out’ to ensure safety. A ‘temporary tattoo’ showing dots spaced 1cm apart is then applied to precisely show the location of each Kybella dose. Ice packs are used to numb the area prior to the tiny Kybella needles then being given.
It initially feels like an ‘internal sunburn’, the skin then goes numb and the area begins to swell. After 20 minutes you are ready to go home. The next day the double chin feels ‘giggly’ and looks obviously swollen. You may have some bruising, especially if you bruise easily. After 2 – 3 days most other people won’t notice the swelling but you will, for a week. It may be a good idea to reduce salt in your diet for the first 7 days to reduce swelling. You get the most swelling and least visible improvement with the first treatment.
Some people (about 1 in 5) will feel firm and lumpy under the chin for about 1 month. The numbness also tends to last for about a month.
You may not see any change until after the second or even third treatment and best results are seen by spacing the treatments 6 weeks apart. The skin will continue to tighten for up to 4 months.
If needles are not for you, you may wish to consider CoolSculpting – with the CoolMini applicator. This treatment provides effective results and is great for people who have slightly larger double chins.
Another alternative is Liposculpture, with the advantage of only a single treatment and results are seen more quickly.
For someone with a larger neck, who has more fat and excess skin, Kybella is not a suitable treatment. For these people, a Facelift combined with Liposuction produces excellent results and will be a more suitable option.
All of the above procedures are performed onsite, including Liposculpture and Facelifts under Twilight Sedation at our fully Government Licensed and Accredited Academy Day Hospital.
So love the chin you’re in and discuss if Kybella is right for you.
